Unsightly Buildup of Mineral Deposits

Homeowners in Paradise Valley, Arizona contacted us for fountain restoration services because their beautiful desert oasis garden fountain had become unsightly. The continuous flow of water containing a high concentration of minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, created a crusty layer of lime scale on the surface of the fountain tiles.

Fountain Restoration: Safe and Effective Media Blasting

We requested that homeowners drain the water from the fountain ahead of our restoration work.

To remove the mineral deposits, we used a special restoration process called media blasting. We aimed a very fine grit blasting media, propelled by compressed air, at the surface of the tiles, creating a mildly abrasive effect. The technique was very effective for removing the contaminants on the surface without damaging the tile.

We finished up by washing and rinsing the tile and applying sealer to the grout lines.

The homeowners were so glad to see their fountain looking fresh, clean, and inviting once again.
