Unsightly, Improperly Sealed Granite

Scottsdale homeowners called us to work on their exterior granite countertops after they discovered that an improper topical sealer they had applied left the granite with a very unsightly finish. The sealer had turned white and looked blotchy. We commonly see this problem in Arizona. Unfortunately, homeowners often do not understand that there are only certain sealers that can be used on granite or in a harsh, exterior environment.

Our Solution: Strip Old Sealer and Apply Appropriate Sealer

Normally, sealer does not need to be stripped from granite, if the appropriate sealer is applied. In this case, however, stripping was necessary. (Our sealer will never discolor your stone.) We masked and protected the surfaces surrounding our work area, applied a stripper, allowed proper dwell time, and then removed the old sealer. We thoroughly deep cleaned the granite to remove any stripper residue. Once the stone was dry, we applied Dry Treat Intensifia. This highly recommended professional sealer not only restored the beautiful color of the granite, it also provided superior stain protection that will last for a long time.

The homeowners said that our stripping and sealer reapplication process made a big difference.

Dry Treat Stone Sealers

About Dry Treat

Most sealers and enhancers used on exterior surfaces in Arizona will break down and fade within a couple of years. The reason we prefer using Dry Treat sealers on exterior surfaces is that it can be expected to last much longer before another application is needed (although it is still recommended to be professionally deep cleaned every one to two years). Dry Treat warranties are only valid if the sealer is applied by a Dry Treat accredited applicator and a regular cleaning schedule is maintained. Beyond Stone Solutions is a Dry Treat accredited applicator, and we will be happy to provide proof of treatment for your records, as well as answer any questions you may have about Dry Treat sealers and products.
