Mold and Mildew Growth on Headstones and Memorial Benches

A family in Tempe, Arizona contacted us for headstone and memorial cleaning because the three family member’s headstones and memorial benches had become stained with mold and mildew growth. The engravings were filled with calcium deposits, as well.

Our Granite Cleaning and Restoration Process

First, we soaked the stone in water and professional cleaning solutions designed specifically for natural stone. We used a mildly abrasive brush to remove most of the stains and residue. For stubborn stains we used professional strength acid-based cleaners and a razor, taking the utmost care not to damage the granite finish. We finished up with neutralizers. Our methods required some elbow grease and patience, but we safely removed the contaminants and restored the headstones and benches to their original beauty.

The family was very appreciative of the care we took to help preserve the final resting place of their loved ones.
