Polished and maintained terrazzo is a beautiful and practical flooring choice.

Terrazzo Polishing and Maintenance

Our experienced terrazzo technicians can deliver a natural finish that will result in long lasting luster using the more preferred processes similar to those used for natural stone restoration — no coatings required. And, follow up cleaning is so much easier than maintaining your terrazzo floors with topical treatments. No more stripping and waxing! Just a quick sweep and a damp mop.

Any flooring subject to high-traffic can quickly lose its appeal and become dull, scratched, and dirty-looking. Terrazzo is no exception.

A common method of maintaining the shine on terrazzo floors is to use topical coatings (waxes), but this results in higher maintenance costs and less appealing results. Why? Because the shine from wax and strip polishing only lasts a short while, and this method generally ends up doing more harm than good. Coatings become scratched and scuffed, and dirt, grime, and other contaminants become embedded in them, making the floor ugly and unsanitary. To keep the floor looking nice, the coatings have to be completely removed and replaced as often as every three months. Sometimes the coatings are not completely removed, and with each passing strip-and-wax, the floor gets a new layer of … well, yuck.

Terrazzo Repair and Restoration

Beyond Stone Solutions provides expert terrazzo repair and restoration services. We can use tinted filler to fill in chips and cracks, or filler with aggregates (little pieces of marble or other material) that match your terrazzo, and then hone or polish to smooth and blend the filled places with the surrounding area.

Even if you are one of the lucky homeowners that has been surprised to discover terrazzo hidden for decades under carpet or some other surface, Beyond Stone Solutions can give you the terrazzo of your dreams — terrazzo restored to its mid-century modern glory.

If your terrazzo was hidden under carpet or some other surface, it is likely damaged with holes from carpet tacks or nails, deep scratches, ugly stains, unsightly cracks and chips, and other damage.

Our terrazzo restoration includes making the necessary repairs, then honing away the scuffed and scratched surface layer to reveal the brand new surface underneath. This is followed with providing the finish of your choice — a velvety smooth satin/matte finish or a glossy, elegant polished finish. We can also apply an impregnating sealer to help inhibit stains.
