Decisions, decisions…
Natural stone is a beautiful, long-lasting material. Some types of stone are better than others for particular uses. We can help you explore your options, considering everything from color to finish to thickness and composition, and recommend the right stone for your project. Marble and Limestone
Although similar in appearance to limestone, marble is a crystalized form of limestone characterized by elegant veining. Marble and limestone are softer and more porous than granite, and although they can be used for countertops or any application, they are recommended for backsplashes, floors, tub surrounds, vanity tops, and specialty areas, such as a pastry surface.
Travertine
Travertine naturally has holes that run throughout the stone. With unfilled travertine, the holes are left alone for a rustic, earthy appearance. With filled travertine, the holes are filled and the surface honed or polished, giving the stone a smooth, elegant finish. Travertine can be used almost anywhere, as long as it is properly maintained.
Terrazzo
Technically, terrazzo isn’t a natural stone, but its form is very similar to natural stone, and it is restored and maintained using the same methods. A composite of marble or other natural stone pieces and a binder consisting of concrete or epoxy, or both, terrazzo is a popular choice for high traffic areas because of its durability.
